Fumar Cigarros (Vaping Townhall)

Hosted by: Oregon Cares Community Coalition

Story details header

Please briefly describe your Communities Talk activity.

Youth and local experts presented information to Spanish-speaking parents about substance use, including alcohol and nicotine (vaping), at a town hall hosted by the Oregon Cares Community Coalition.

How does alcohol and other drug misuse affect your community?

Spanish-speaking parents asked for help in developing strategies for talking with their kids about substance use. We know that Heritage Spanish youth are more likely to be cited for school code violations and more likely to receive municipal tickets for alcohol and nicotine use. These two substances are often used together.
